There are three levels for Usui Reiki. Keep these in mind when looking for a practitioner or for when you want to train into this healing modality.
Reiki Level I, also called the First Degree or Shoden in Japanese.
Entry level training includeds Reiki History, Information on Chakras, How to perform Self Reiki and how to give Reiki to someone else. You are also initiated / attuned for life to the Reiki energy. Instructions are given on how to use Reiki with plants and animals as well as humans.
Reiki Level II, also called the Second Degree or Okuden in Japanese.
You learn the first three Reiki symbols, how to send Reiki Healing over distance, advanced techniques for plants and animals. You receive further attunements to the Reiki energy. After this class you are considered a Reiki Practitioner.
Reiki Level III, also called the Third Degree or Shinpiden in Japanese.
This is the Master / Teacher level of Reiki. You learn the Reiki Master symbol and how to give Reiki Attunements to others. You also receive the Reiki Master Attunement. You learn how to encorportate Reiki in to your every day life.
